THE pressure of natural gas being provided by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is decreasing day by day during forenoon hours, especially in Block 18 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

With the start of winter in November, natural gas use increases as citizens switch their geysers on, while restaurants and hotels too require more gas in cold weather.

On the other hand, the SSGC decreases gas pressure, although gas charges have increased phenomenally. The question is: when the SSGC knows that gas use increases during winter, why doesn’t it take measures to meet the demand and increase gas pressure, although Karachi residents do not use as much gas as it is used in colder parts of the country?

The SSGC managing director and authorities concerned should ensure regular and full gas supply to Karachi consumers.
