QUETTA: Deputy Inspector General Abdul Razzaq Cheema of the Quetta region police has urged staff of police stations to treat applicants with respect.

Speaking at a ceremony held on the eve of promotion of police personnel at Police Lines in Pishin, he said: “Fortunately police and Levies Force have built a strong nexus against terrorists and criminals across the province.”

He lauded the joint action of the two law enforcement agencies which had foiled a terrorist attack in Pishin recently.

“Balochistan police have smashed terrorist networks and have been making fervent attempts to curb street crime across the province, including Quetta,” the DIG added.

Referring to a dispute over the bypass near the old police station in Pishin, Mr Cheema said with the support of local tribal elders, the deputy commissioner and the area’s MPA the matter had been resolved amicably. He rejected speculations about pending promotion cases of police personnel and said: “We promote senior officers periodically.”

“Balochistan police have rendered immense sacrifices to restore peace in the province while they have been working day and night to protect lives and property of people,” the DIG said.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Pishin Qaim Lashari vowed to strengthen the capacity of police and Levies Force and said a checkpost of the latter force was being functionalised in the district to maintain law and order. Senior Superintendent of Police Ayub Khan Achakzai also addressed the event and pledged not to compromise over law and order in the entire district.
