QUETTA: Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Jamal Khan Mandokhel has said the judiciary’s top priority is to provide speedy justice to the people.

Speaking at a ceremony held on Saturday to inaugurate the District and Sessions Court building in the Sariab area, he said the court had been established in the area to provide justice to its one million residents at their doorstep.

He said there had been a perception in the past that the law and order situation was not good in Quetta, particularly in the Sariab area, but now the whole of Balochistan had become peaceful because of sacrifices rendered by security personnel as well as the masses.

The chief justice said the district court would get all the resources to deal with the cases from seven police stations and that lawyers would be present in the court daily.

“For the relief of the masses, the deputy commissioner of Quetta and two assistant commissioners will attend the court twice a week,” he said.

Justice Mandokhel said there were 5,500 cases pending in the high court and 13,000 cases in district courts of the province, including about 1,500 cases in Sariab district court.

He said that for providing speedy justice, cooperation between the bar and the bench was vital.

“We need to strengthen all our institutions because if that is done the masses will receive justice at all levels and they will not turn to courts,” he added.

The chief justice assured the lawyers that their problems would be solved using the available resources.

MNA Agha Hassan Baloch, MPAs Malik Naseer Ahmed Shahwani, Ahmed Nawaz Baloch and Zeenat Sana, senior judge Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Justice Mohammad Ejaz Swati, Justice Kamran Khan Mandokhel, Justice Nazeer Ahmed Langove, Justice Zaheerud Din Kakar, Justice Abdullah Baloch, Justice Rozi Khan Barech, DIG police Abdul Razzaq Cheema, the district administration, lawyers and a large number of political and social personalities were present on the occasion.
