Published August 12, 2005

PESHAWAR, Aug 11: The Gandhara Hindko Board will hold an open-air Hindko Mushaira at the historic Gor Gathri monument on August 14 to mark the Independence Day, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

Eminent Hindko poet from Akora Khattak, Aziz Aijaz, will preside over the event which will start after Maghrib prayer. Poets from Peshawar, Hazara, Kohat and Nowshera will attend the annual Mushaira.

Hindko poets from different parts of the province will recall the struggle waged by the Muslims of the subcontinent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah for a separate homeland.

It may be mentioned here that the Gandhara Hindko Board is a literary-cum-cultural organization that has been working for 12 years for preservation and promotion of the Hindko language. It seeks respect and attention for all the 24 languages and cultures native to the NWFP.—APP
