KARACHI, Aug 11: Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Abdul Razak A. Thaheem directed the concerned officials to complete all uplift schemes pending in Karachi and other parts of Sindh on war footing.

He also directed the KESC and Hesco to immediately prepare plans to get rid of the problem of power shutdowns.

Mr Thaheem issued these directives in meeting held here on Thursday to review the ongoing development projects in Sindh.

Officials of the KESC, Hesco, Pak PWD, Pakistan Baitul Mal and Sui Gas attended the meeting.

The federal minister took notice of the continuing load shedding in Karachi and the interior of Sindh, badly affecting commercial and routine activities of the people.

He asked the concerned officials to evolve a strategy to permanently resolve this menace.

Mr Thaheem asked the Hesco officials to submit a feasibility report identifying villages which were not yet electrified in the province at the earliest under the PM programme for electrifying hundred per cent villages of the country.

The minister said that the purpose of his visit throughout Sindh was to ensure completion of the existing projects at the earliest so as to provide relief to the people.—APP
