QUETTA: The parliamentary committee of the Balochistan Assembly will meet on Tuesday to discuss the matters related to the alleged video scandal, unethical practices, installation of hidden cameras and harassment of students in Balochistan University.

According to the assembly secretariat, chairperson of the committee Mahjabeen Sheeran will preside over the meeting. Malik Naeem Bazai, Sana Baloch, Syed Fazal Agha, Danesh Kumar, Mir Salim Ahmed Khosa, Mir Asad Baloch, Nasarullah Khan Zeeray, Syed Ehsan Shah and Shakila Naveed Dehwar are members of the committee.

Speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, who had constituted the committee, said that the parliamentary panel will not only probe the issue but also monitor the inquiry conducted by other institutions.

Treasury and opposition members in the provincial assembly have condemned the alleged blackmailing and harassment of university students and demanded a fair inquiry into the incident through a parliamentary committee.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Alyani also took notice of the incident and termed it an unpardonable crime.

He said the incident had ruined the sanctity of the province’s biggest university. “Our government will not spare the culprits behind this heinous act,” he added.

The chief minister assured the IG Police and officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of his full cooperation in the investigation and directed the authorities to arrest the culprits involved in the crime.

According to sources in the FIA, additional CCTV cameras had been installed in the university to capture videos of students.
