RAWALPINDI: Heavy rain in upper hills of Murree has been recorded and due to this cold wave, the weather in twin cities is chilly.

Residents of the twin cities on Friday experienced chilly weather due to drizzles accompanied by cold wind. Light rain dropped the mercury level and forced people to stay indoors.

The drizzle started in the morning and continued till 12 noon.

The Met Office predicted more rains during the next 24 to 48 hours. It stated that dry weather was expected throughout the country but it will be cold in the northern parts.

However, weathermen predicted isolated rain and thunderstorms in districts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Islamabad.

The Met Department officials said the air will be chilly in the twin cities after rain in adjoining areas and they foresee fog in the coming days in the Potohar region.

Sale of winter dishes like fish, gajjar halwa, dhoodh jalebi, Kashmiri tea and chicken corn soup has also increased due to the rainy weather.

Traditional food items at Committee Chowk, Saddar, Commercial Market and Satellite Town stalls pulled crowds.
