BAHAWALPUR, Jan 15: The local Islamia University on Tuesday declared the result of Bachelor of Arts (BA), second annual examination, 2001.

A press release stated that around 3,339 candidates appeared in the examination. Of them, some 1,540 were declared successful with a percentage of 46.12.

The university held the results of some of the candidates who had failed to clear their dues.

Meanwhile, it announced that BA/BSC, first annual examination, would commence on April 10, 2002. The admission forms without late fee will be received up to March 2 while April 10 would be the deadline with late fee, the press release added.

TEHSIL NAIB NAZIM: All the encroachments and illegal structures will be demolished in the district after Jan 21.

This was stated by Anti-Encroachment Committee Convener and Bahawalpur tehsil Naib Nazim Syed Abdul Mueed Shah Bokhari after a meeting with the Central Anjuman-i-Tajran President, Siraj Badar, here on Tuesday.

The Nazim claimed no pressure would be tolerated in this regard.

ARRESTED: At least 50 activists have been arrested so far while the number of offices sealed in the district has touched 15.

Dawn learnt on Tuesday the police officials had long lists of the supporters they were in search of. Some of them had gone underground and the police were facing difficulties arresting them in the rural areas.
