QUETTA: A large number of graduates turned up at a job fair organised by the Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITMS) at its campus on Wednesday.

At least 95 foreign, national, semi-government and private companies set up their stalls to participate in the job fair and hire graduates from Balochistan.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the fair, BUITMS vice chancellor Dr Farooq Bazai said that universities should not just be responsible for awarding degrees to students, they should take measures for providing jobs to the youths graduating from educational institutions.

Dr Bazai said the event was a unique opportunity for the students of Balochistan as it would ensure provision of jobs to them at their doorsteps.

The companies which participated in the fair included China’s Overseas Port Company, Engro Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan, OGDCL, PTCL, Habib Bank Limited, Muslim Commercial Bank, Habibullah Coastal Company, DHA, SUPARCO, Saindak project, PDMA, United Nations Organisation, Suzuki Motors, Hasho Foundation, Nestle, Pepsi and Serana Hotel etc.

The VC lauded the participation of national and international firms in the job fair.
