PARACHINAR: A five-year-old girl was found dead after being subjected to alleged sexual assault by unknown accused in Peewar area of Kurram tribal district, police and family sources said here on Tuesday.

Gul Ali, 60, told mediapersons that the body of his five-year-old granddaughter was found in a pond in Peewar village. He said she was studying in a local government school.

He added that the girl did not return home from school and later they found the body in a pond in the area. He said the body was taken to the district headquarters hospital Parachinar for autopsy.

Later, district police officer Kurram Rahim Shah said that police had taken into custody two watchmen of the school for investigation into the case.
