PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa on Friday visited the Peshawar High Court and inaugurated Information E-Kiosk and video link platform for ensuring virtual appearance of lawyers from Kohat and Mardan districts.

Hailing the efforts of PHC Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth for ensuring justice on doorstep of the litigants through application of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa announced extending the video link facility provided in the circuit benches of the Supreme Court to all the districts where the video link platform had been established by the PHC.

According to a press release, the CJP observed that the application of ICT should ease the sufferings of the litigants in ensuring inexpensive justice. He lauded the vision of PHC CJ in devising such methodologies for achieving the objective of expeditious justice.

He also showed keen interest in the novel idea floated at the high court on establishing the data analysis wing. He was of the view that policy decisions needed to be backed by relevant statistics.

The CJP visited different sections and offices of the high court, including the institution branch, human rights cell and the secretariat of district judiciary.

He also had a meeting with the high court judges before leaving for Islamabad.

Initially, the video link platform has been set up at Court Room No 1 and in near future the facility will be established in all the courtrooms. With the introduction of this technology, lawyers from Kohat and Mardan, having cases in the PHC principal seat, need not visit Peshawar for arguing their cases and they will virtually appear through the video link.
