KARACHI: Mickey Arthur, who was recently relieved as the head coach of Pakistan cricket team, is likely to take up a similar role with the Sri Lanka team according to relevant quarters who claim that talks between Arthur and SLC are in final stages.

Talking to this correspondent, an official of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) claimed that both parties — SLC and Arthur — have reached a deal in this regard.

The official further said that Arthur would be in Pakistan with the Sri Lanka team, as a consultant. However, after the Pakistan tour, he will take over the head coach’s post.

However, sources close to the South Africa-born Arthur didn’t confirm the agreement but admitted that SLC and Arthur had informally agreed upon the terms of his contract.

Arthur was appointed Pakistan’s head coach in 2016 but his contract was not extended after Pakistan’s lacklustre campaign at the ICC World Cup.
