PESHAWAR, Aug 9: Peshawar District and Sessions Judge Shahjehan Akhundzada issued non-bailable warrants on Tuesday against the station house officer of Mathani police station, Zulfiqar Khan, for not turning up before the court and ordered police to produce him on August 20.

The SHO is accused by Niaz Gul, son of Salahuddin, for keeping him in illegal confinement and registering a fake case of terrorism against him.

The applicant claimed that his wife fell ill during his absence and died. He stated there was no one to look after his 13-month-old daughter.

Narrating his ordeal, Gul said, on March 23, Zulfiqar Khan had raided his house at Scheme Chowk, Kohat Road, and arrested him for no reason. He was blindfolded and was kept in illegal detention for ten days.

Mr Gul stated that later he was charged by the SHO with carrying explosive and was declared a terrorist. He added that news reporters were invited to take his pictures.

The petitioner appealed to the judge to take appropriate action against the SHO to prevent such cases in the future.
