ATF U-14 Tennis begins

KARACHI: Young Nadir Mirza, Zain Ehtisham, Ahmed Neil, Talha Aman beat their respective rivals in the first round on the opening day of the Commissioner Cup ATF U-14 Super Series Tennis here at Karachi Gymkhana on Monday.

In the Sindh ranking U-17 final round, Ghufran Faiz, Ammar Ismail and Saim Danish won their matches. In the under-13 singles first round, Ahsan Ahmed, Ibrahim Sajjad, Samar Zaman, Abdullah Aftab and Dhuraf Das triumphed in their respective matches.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by DC South Syed Salahuddin who lauded the holding of the sports event and said tournaments like these will promote harmony and sportsman spirit in the society.

Also present on the occasion were PTF vice president Khalid Shamsi, Khalid Rehmani, coordinator Ghulam Mohammad, ITF qualified referee Arif Qureshi and media coordinator Mohammad Arshad were also present.

The tournament is being jointly hosted by Pakistan Tennis Federation and Shamsi Tennis Academy.

ATF U-14 First round: Nadir Mirza bt Ibrahim Sajjad 6-0, 6-1; Zain Ehtisham bt Ibrahim Nauman 6-2, 6-2; Ahmed Neil bt Yahya Loni 6-3, 6-3; Talha Rehman by Rahim Waqar 6-3, 6-0.

Ranking U-17 (final round): Ghufran Faiz by Farooq Ateeq 6-0, 6-0; Ammar Ismail bt Asim Gul 5-7, 6-3, 6-3; Saim Danish bt Faraz Ali 6-1, 6-3.
