GILGIT: A Pakistan Army helicopter rescued on Friday five people stranded at Deosai plains owing to heavy snowfall.

According to officials, four residents of Gultari area of Astore were stranded when the vehicle they were travelling in stuck in heavy snowfall while going to Skardu through Deosai plains on Wednesday.

According to them, rescue of the stranded people was not possible without helicopters.

An army team initiated rescue efforts on the directives of Commander FCNA Maj-Gen Ehsan Mehmood Khan on Friday, airlifting them to Skardu.

Meanwhile, according to a press release, Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Speaker Fida Mohammed Nashad thanked the FCNA commander for rescue of the stranded people.
