KARACHI: A man was found shot dead in Clifton on Sunday, police said.
They added that the body of the man identified as Siddique, 44, with bullet wounds, was found outside the Umar Sharif Park in Block-2.
Circumstantial evidence suggested that he was gunned down somewhere else and later on the killers threw his body there early in the morning, said South SSP Sheeraz Nazeer.
No spent bullet casing was found at the crime scene while the body also bore torture marks, he added.
A single bullet hit him in the temple, said Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the body was taken to fulfil legal formalities.
The victim was a resident of Shirin Jinnah Colony and involved in sale of used tyres. His family has been traced.
The SSP Nazeer claimed that the police had got significant clues as to possible motive and identity of the killers and that the suspects would be arrested soon.
The police ruled out the possibility of targeted killing and hinted that the murder might be related to the victim’s some personal activities. He suggested that it may not be advisable at his stage to share such information with the media.
Teenager killed at wedding ceremony
A teenager was shot dead while another was wounded when a policeman opened fire in jubilation during a marriage ceremony in Quaidabad on Sunday evening, police said.
They added that policeman Uzair Ali fired shots into the air during a marriage ceremony in Sherpao Colony as a result of which 14-year-old Mudasir Abbas received bullet wounds on his face and died on the spot.
Another boy, Abrar Ashfaq, 11, sustained bullet injury on his left hand and his condition was stated to be out of danger.
The dead and the wounded were taken to the JPMC.
The police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident, arrested the suspect policeman and recovered the pistol used in the incident. The suspect was a serving police officer of the Steel Town police station.
Man shot dead in North Nazimabad
A young man was shot dead by armed motorcyclists in North Nazimabad on Sunday evening over some personal enmity, said the Taimuria police.
They added that Niaz Mohammed, 33, was sitting at his PCO shop in Arafat Town, Block-L when two suspects riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire on him and fled.
The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds in his head and other parts of the body and died on the spot.
The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil legal formalities.
Taimuria police officer Hadi Bux said that the murder appeared to be an outcome of some personal enmity.
