QUETTA: Balochistan has been suffering a loss of over Rs700 million annually as Hub Power Company (Hubco) is not paying 3 per cent share of its profit to the Balochistan government, says Member of the National Assembly Aslam Bhootani.

Talking to newsmen during his visit to Gadani, he also claimed that Hubco was not providing jobs to the local people.

Mr Bhootani said he, through his lawyer Amanullah Kanrani, advocate, had sought a copy of the agreement signed with Hubco, but the Balochistan government refused to provide it to him.

Mr Bhootani, who served as speaker of the Balochistan Assembly from April 8, 2008 to December 25, 2012, was elected MNA from NA-272 Gwadar-Lasbela in the 2018 general election.

The former speaker said he had protested over allotting land to Hubco for its plant at a throwaway price and as a result of his protest the company got the land at revised rates and it agreed to give 3pc share from its annual profit to the Balochistan government.
