KARACHI: The joint candidate of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Moazzam Ali Khan Abbasi, who won the PS-11 Larkana-II by-election by defeating the PPP candidate, may have to wait to take oath as legislator at least till Oct 29 as the Sindh Assembly session was adjourned on Friday due to lack of quorum.

The session was adjourned till Tuesday by Deputy Speaker Rehana Leghari due to lack of quorum required to start the session. As the session started with the deputy speaker in the chair at around 2.50pm, majority of the treasury benches were empty in the house that comprises a total of 168 members and requires at least 42 members to run the session.

The opposition members belonging to the PTI and GDA protested over the adjournment of the session in front of the chair chanting slogans against the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party and in favour of MPA-elect Abbasi.

The house echoed with opposition members’ slogans “Larkana Ka Ghazi, Moazzam Abbasi”, as the deputy speaker left the house after adjourning the session.

Later the opposition members staged a sit-in outside the assembly’s premises to protest against the government’s attempt to prevent Abbasi from taking oath as member of the house.
