LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked on Tuesday between the Punjab Police and Tevta to provide international standard driving training to citizens in the province.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan and TEVTA Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique signed the MoU at the Central Police Office.The IGP said road safety and traffic management has been his top priority to save valuable lives and properties besides decreasing incidents of road accidents.

Under the project, experts and heavy-duty drivers will be available for preparing valuable human resource to foreign countries besides opening new employment opportunities for thousands of citizens across the province.

“The Punjab Police have been endeavouring hard for the provision of traffic license services to the trained drivers by utilizing all its resources”, he said adding that the Police Khidmat Markaz across province were working to provide hassle free services to the citizen in this regard.

According to the MoU, he said, the Punjab police would provide instructors and material for training centres while Tevta will provide finance and logistic support.

Tevta and the police will deliver short and long duration trainings to citizens under the supervision of expert trainers. Short-term courses will consist of three days and long-term courses of two months.
