TAXILA: The body of 12-year-old boy, who went missing on Thursday, was found near Kalla Nullah located on GT Road in Taxila on Saturday.

Station house officer Sub-Inspector Sohail Zaffar said Wasif Shah went missing from Pind Gondal and a report was lodged with the police by his uncle Mir Shah.

On Saturday, some scavengers spotted the body and informed the police who shifted it to the tehsil headquarters (THQ). According to preliminary medical examination, the boy’s head was smashed with a stone. He said the family belonged to KP and was living in a rented house in Taxila.

“It would be too early to say whether the boy was subjected to sexual assault before being murdered. The circumstances in which he was killed can only be known after the medical examination report is received from Lahore,” he said.

Potohar Town Superintendent of Police Syed Ali along with a forensic team visited the place where the body was found. The SP said the team had gathered samples for test.

He said the deceased was wearing the same clothes he had worn when he left his house.
