LAHORE, Aug 6: The monitoring cell set up by the PPP to point out rigging in the local elections, if any, has set up its secretariat on the Fane Road. The cell, headed by Senator Lateef Khosa, will also provide legal assistance to candidates contesting the election from the ‘Awam Dost’ platform.

Mian Mohammad Bashir, M. Nasim Kashmiri, Mian Hanif Tahir, Mian Shaukat Ali, Rashid Lodhi, Chaudhry Ishaq, Naveed Inayat Malik, Amir Jalil Siddiqui, Syed Ali Raza, Chaudhry Imran, Chaudhry Ahsan Asghar, Chaudhry Mumtaz Kumboh, Nasim Shehabi, Chaudhry Tariq Javed and Rabea Bajwa are members of the cell.

Meanwhile, Punjab PPP media adviser Iqbal Sialvi alleged on Saturday that the ruling party-backed candidates had been allotted election symbols known to the voters, leaving less important symbols for the opposition contestants. He said this was a malpractice.
