CMIT to check Sunday Bazaars

Published August 6, 2005

LAHORE, Aug 5: Chief Minister’s Inspection Team members were on Friday allotted towns for checking of quality of goods and prices in Sunday Bazaars. Allotting the towns to the members during a meeting here, CMIT Minister Col Shuja Khanzada (retired) said they should inspect the Sunday Bazaars being held regularly to ensure the availability of quality commodities at fixed prices. The members should not only check the quality of goods and prices but weights and measures also. Stalls of shopkeepers found selling inferior quality goods, overcharging or using substandard weights and measures should be cancelled and FIRs should be lodged against them.

He said the CMIT members should also check the attendance of the employees of different government departments posted in the Sunday Bazaars and take stern action against them.

He also directed the DCO to establish complaint cells in the Sunday Bazaars for redressing grievances of the consumers.
