PESHAWAR: Afghan Premier Noor Ahmed Etemadi tendered the resignation of his Cabinet to King Zahir Shah in Kabul last evening [Oct 13] following the election of the new Parliament, Kabul Radio reported this evening. King Zahir Shah has accepted the resignation but asked Mr Etemadi to continue at his post till the appointment of a new Premier.
Mr Etemadi was appointed Prime Minister of Afghanistan on Oct 31, 1967.
Meanwhile, King Zahir Shah of Afghanistan today inducted the Afghan Parliament into its 13th session, according to another broadcast monitored here. Addressing members of both the Houses of Afghan Parliament this morning at the induction ceremony, the Afghan Monarch reminded them of their “great responsibilities” and expressed confidence that they would discharge them in the light of growing consciousness of their rights among the people of Afghanistan. — Agency
[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Islamabad,] The Soviet Union has indicated her willingness to discuss the question of Pakistan-Soviet collaboration in the setting up of Karachi Steel Mills. A five-member delegation, headed by the Chairman of the Steel Mills Corporation will leave Karachi on Oct 16 for Moscow for negotiations.
