Woman, three daughters shot dead

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 4: A woman and her three daughters were killed when about 20 armed men attacked their house in the Sunehri village, near Moro, on Wednesday night.

The armed men barged into the house of Hassan Nondho and opened fire, killing Bakhtaran, 55, and her daughters Latifan, 20, Afshan, 10, and Paroshan, 4. Anwar Nondho was injured and shifted to a Nawabshah hospital. The armed men burnt the house and escaped.

The bodies were handed over to relatives after post-mortem at a Moro hospital.

To protest against the incident, a large number of people, including women, staged a sit-in on the Dadu-Moro road for three hours. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.

WALK: The National Commission on Human Development here on Tuesday organized a walk to create awareness among people about importance of education and motivate them to send their children to school.

More than 200 people, including women, participated in the walk. They were led by NCHD general manager Miandad Rahujo, education EDO Fazal-un-Nisa Buriro, district programme officer Sajid Hussain and elementary DO Irshad Abbasi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rahujo said the NCHD was arranging walks, rallies and other programmes which would continue up to Aug 8. He said the purpose of such programs was to motivate people to send their children to school.

Later, the participants went to the Government Primary School, Naushahro Feroze, where 14 children were enrolled.
