KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani has announced that the first Commissioner Karachi Asia Cup junior Tennis tournament, organized by Shamsi Tennis Academy in collaboration with Sindh Tennis Association, will be held in Karachi Gymkhana from Nov 16-22.

The commissioner said that there are number of sports events in offing after the Sri Lankan cricket team’s tour of Pakistan including a grand torch lighting ceremony for the 33rd National Games are in the pipeline.

He was speaking at the annual award distribution ceremony of Pakistan Sports Welfare Association here the other day. DIGP Karachi East Aamir Farooqui, who presided over the ceremony, also said that inter district IGP Sindh hockey league will commence from Oct 2.

Khalid Jameel Shamsi, Engineer Mehfoozul Haq, KBBA VP Shahida Parveen Kiyani, Begum Asma Ali Shah, Ahmed Ali Rajput were also present on the occasion.

A number of sports personalities were given awards which included football organizer Saleem Khamisani, shootingball organizer Aijaz Ahmed, yoga organizer Khalid Brohi, judo organizer Muhammad Rafiq and others.
