NAWABSHAH, Aug 3: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said the local body elections will be held under supervision of police and Rangers. Talking to journalists at the circuit house here on Tuesday night, he said people opposing the army rule were now demanding supervision of the army in the elections.

He denied rigging allegations by the People’s Party Parliamentarians, saying the PPP was levelling such allegations against the government because it knew its losing position. The chief minister said more than 100 union council nazims of Khushhal Pakistan, Haq Parast and Faqir Dost panels had been elected unopposed.

He said the law and order situation in Sindh was better and people were getting jobs due to investment in the private sector. Earlier, the chief minister chaired a meeting of the PML, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and other allies and finalized the election strategy and the list of candidates.

The political adviser to the chief minister, Ghulam Rasool Unnar, special assistant to the chief minister, Abdul Rauf, adviser to the chief minister, Mushtaq Ahmad Rahu, district PML president Khan Mohammad Dahiri and MQM zonal organizer Anwar Saleem attended the meeting.
