LAHORE: The PML-N has accused the Punjab government of not allowing medicines and mattress to its vice president Maryam Nawaz in Kot Lakhpat jail.

“Maryam Nawaz is kept in poor conditions in jail. A mattress brought from her house was not permitted at her cell by the authorities concerned. Her jail cell has an attached bath but it is separated now. Even a fan is not available at her cell. She has been given a sheet and a pillow,” PML-N Punjab information secretary Azma Bokhari alleged in a statement here on Thursday.

On Wednesday, an accountability court denied further custody of Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and her cousin Yousaf Abbas to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case and sent them to jail on judicial remand.

She was arrested by NAB in early August on the the money laundering charges.

Meanwhile, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, his mother and Dr Adnan Khan met Nawaz Sharif in jail.
