QUETTA: Four policemen were injured in a bomb blast that occurred close to their vehicle in the Southern Bypass area near Quetta-Sibi National Highway on Wednesday night.

Officials said that unknown terrorists parked an explosives-laden motorcycle in Mianghundi and detonated it with remote control when the vehicle of the New Sariab police station was passing through the area, injuring four police personnel.

“Terrorists targeted the patrolling police vehicle,” Sariab SP Mohammad Baloch said.

Soon after the blast, police and Frontier Corps personnel rushed to the site, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The injured policemen were taken to the Civil Hospital, where the condition of two of them is stated to be serious.
