LARKANA: Former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Sindh president Amir Bakhsh Bhutto on Monday announced his support to Larkana Awami Ittehad (LAI) candidate for PS-11 Larkana-II Moazzam Ali Abbasi in the October 17 re-election ordered by the Supreme Court.

Mr Abbasi’s close rival is Pakistan Peoples Party’s Jamil Soomro, who has lately been serving as political secretary to the party’s chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Amir Bhutto convened a meeting of his supporters in various UCs of the constituency at Dahessar House and explained to them why he took the decision to support Mr Abbasi.

He said the PPP leadership had plundered the national exchequer and provincial kitty over the decades and pocketed “trillions” of rupees. He said the money included the funds meant for development in Larkana and other parts of the province.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Larkana district chief Maulana Nasir Ahmed also briefly spoke at the gathering and expressed his party’s support to Moazzam Abbasi.
