RAWALPINDI: The great-niece of Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was one of two dengue patients who died at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Sunday.

Asma Sheikh, 17, was brought to HFH with symptoms of dengue on Saturday, a doctor in the hospital said. She was moved to the high dependency unit, where she died Sunday morning. Sheikh was the daughter of Sheikh Shakir Shafique, who is Sheikh Rashid’s nephew. However, additional deputy commissioner Saima Younas said it was not confirmed that Ms Sheikh had died of dengue.

Khawaja Mohammad Asif, a resident of Bahria Town Phase VII, was brought to HFH on Saturday. He died Sunday morning. Asif owned a furniture store in Waris Khan and a tyre shop in Saddar.

There are currently 442 dengue patients admitted to the three government-run hospitals.
