MUZAFFARABAD: A man and a woman were injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Indian shelling from across the Line of Control on Saturday, local officials said.

The shelling started in Nakyal sector of Kotli district on Friday night, with civilian population being its primary target, said Shariq Talat, a disaster management officer based in the district headquarters.

During the overnight shelling, two shops, a tin-roof house and a vehicle were damaged, according to the pictures shared by residents on social media. Mr Talat said two people, identified as Muhammad Sultan, 25, and Nasreen Akhtar, 30, were injured in Batli and Batli Bala villages of Nakyal sector at about 4:30pm on Saturday.
