HARIPUR: The district police officer has dismissed two police personnel, including a woman constable, from service and demoted an assistant sub-inspector to the constable’s rank over corruption, extortion and links with drug peddlers and criminals.

Sources told Dawn that an inquiry had found TIP police post chief ASI Saeed Shah and constable Majid Nawaz guilty of corruption, extortion and links with drug pushers and criminals, so the district police officer ordered the dismissal of Majid Nawaz from service and demotion of Saeed Shah to the rank of constable.

However, line head constable Asad Mehmood and constable Siddique were cleared.

The DPO also dismissed woman constable Sobia Bibi of Kotnajibullah area for stealing money and valuables during a raid on a house.
