PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Dr Mohammad Naeem Khan has ordered crackdown on organised criminal groups and land grabbers across the province.

A statement issued here on Tuesday said the directives were issued to all regional and district police officers, also asking them to launch action against land grabbers, drug peddlers and those dealing in usurious loans.

The statement said the officials had been directed to go against extortionists and timber smugglers in the first phase in light of the list shared by the special branch with them.

According to the special branch report, land grabbers has become a big evil for the society which captures public lands, while drug peddlers are spreading the deadly stuff like ice among people, particularly students.

The DPOs have been asked to compile personal file for each member of the criminal groups.

They have further been directed to also compile a list of the cases in which investigation is pending against the individuals and pursue it vigorously.

They have been directed to discuss individual cases by convening the meetings of the district intelligence committees for action under 3-MPO.

All officers have also been directed to furnish progress reports of the action taken in their respective regions/districts against organised criminal groups to the CPO at the earliest.
