Karachi South Red wins DMC Women Boxing event

KARACHI: Karachi South Red overpowered Karachi West Blue by 18-6 to clinch the title of DMC Women Boxing Championship held at Lyari’s Pak Shaheen Boxing Club on Monday.

For Karachi South (Red) the winners were Aliya Soomro who beat Fatima Hasan, Hanifa Commando outplayed Munira, Bakhtawar Baloch overcame Sarah, Arshia Qambrani beat Mubashira and Azmia Singhar prevailed over Samia.

For Karachi West, the winners were Gohar Taj who beat Amna Qambrani and Fatima who outpointed Kainat.

DMC South Chairman Malik Mohammad Fayyaz on the occasion praised Lyari boxers. He said that Lyari is considered as the nursery of boxing.

“Many of Lyari’s pugilists have played at national and international level and have won laurels for the country. Female boxers have also performed well in the same manner. They should be provided with best infrastructure and good platform so that they could polish their talent and go all the way to bring laurels for the country,” said Fayyaz during the closing ceremony.

“I am happy to see these female pugilists playing. I have a strong believe that these women would represent Pakistan and would give tough competition to their international counterparts,” he said.

On the occasion, UC-6 Vice Chairman Farhan Hingoro, founder Pak Shaheen Boxing Club Mohammad Younis Qambarani and others were also present.
