UPPER DIR: One person was killed and eight others were injured in two road accidents here on Sunday, locals and police said.

The first incident took place in Palam, a remote area of Usheri Dara, where a car going in a wedding procession fell into a ravine. As a result, the driver of the car was killed on the spot, while four others suffered injuries. The injured were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.

In second incident happened in Khwago Obo, a non-custom-paid passenger vehicle fell into a gorge, injuring four persons. The injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital, Dir.

Eyewitnesses of both the incidents said that cause of the accidents was over-speeding.
