Policeman shot dead by rival in Kohat

KOHAT: A policeman was shot dead by his rival in the courts’ square, a strictly guarded area of Kohat city, on Sunday. However, the traffic wardens arrested the accused, Mohsin Kamal of Lachi tehsil, when he was embarking a van to escape.

The cantonment police said constable, Ziaullah Khan, had killed the bother of Kamal on Aug 7 in Lachi.

The constable was stationed at the KDA teaching hospital, but had been absent from duty since then.

Kamal was in pursuit of him to take the revenge of the murder of his brother. He chased him from Lachi and after finding a chance shot him dead. However, he was overpowered by the traffic wardens and moved to the Cantonment police station where he was nominated in the FIR.

The body of the deceased constable was shifted to the KDA teaching hospital for autopsy, and later handed over to relatives.
