Woman, daughter killed in accident

SAHIWAL, July 31: A woman and her daughter were killed while husband sustained serious injuries on Sunday in an accident on the GT Road near Chak 84/5-L. Rana Khadim Husain along with his wife and daughter was coming to Sahiwal by motorcycle (OKD-3459) when a speeding trailer (LTE-021) hit them. Consequently, Kausar and her daughter Uzma (4) died on the spot while Rana Khadim sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to the local DHQ Hospital in serious condition. The victim family belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan.

Yousafwala police have registered a case against the absconding driver.

10 POS HELD: Sahiwal police on Saturday night arrested 10 proclaimed offenders and nine court absconders during a general hold up on the direction of the Multan range DIG.

Police also arrested eight people for keeping illicit arms while 125 bottles of liquor were also recovered from a bootlegger.

A spokesman of the police department said that cases were registered against the arrested accused.

ARRESTED: Two prayer leaders were arrested for delivering provocative speeches and misusing loudspeaker.

Those arrested were Qari Muhammad Shafi of Kot Khadim Ali Shah and Qari Abdullah of Chak 94/6-R. The accused were sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Harappa’s MMA president Qari Muhammad Afzal managed to escape, but police registered a case against him under 16 MPO.

INQUIRY: The chief minister has directed the Sahiwal DCO to conduct an inquiry against the former principal of the Government College for Women for embezzling canteen and college funds.

The DCO was also directed to get registered a case against the principal if she found guilty of charges.

Muhammad Arshad of Chak 89/6-R alleged in his complaint to the chief minister that former principal Mrs Mubeen Khalil had embezzled hundreds and thousands of rupees.
