ISLAMABAD, July 30: A senior Balochistan minister, Maulana Abdul Wasay, on Friday rejected the impression that the provincial government was also considering presenting Hasba Bill, and said there was no need for introducing Hasba culture in the province.

Existing provincial laws are enough to conduct accountability and enforce Islamic system, he told reporters here at the Supreme Court building. There is no need to create a new office of Mohtasib as the system of provincial ombudsman is already working, the minister said.

The provincial government is in the process of appointing district ombudsmen under the Local Government Ordinance, which provides for establishment of such offices, which will perform the same function as that of mohtasib under Hasba Bill in the NWFP.

Referring to the forthcoming local government elections, the minister observed that though the polls were announced on non- party basis, in practical terms, these were being held on party basis as all the political parties were actively participating in the process.
