LAHORE: Heavy rain around the airport on Saturday pumped huge amount of humidity into the rest of the city where it remained dry, creating worst kind of mugginess.

The mid-day rain created both fine and bad weather at the same time in the ever expanding city. It was caused by moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, said the Met department, adding, nevertheless, that there is no chance of any significant rain in the country at present.

The department recorded 63mm rain at the airport.

It said Murree also received 3mm rain, Gujranwala 2mm, while Lasbela and Kakul 4mm.

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

However, rain/wind-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore divisions, besides Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
