LAHORE: A young technician was found dead in the washroom of Mayo Hospital’s emergency department lab on Friday evening.

Identified as Ahmad Hasan Siddique, 28, the employee was working as operation theatre attendant at the emergency unit.

He was recovered dead after breaking the washroom door when his colleagues found no response for an hour or so. They also found an anesthesia drug that Siddique reportedly had injected into his body.

Medical experts said the drug in-question was used to slow the activity of brain and the nervous system.

Normally, the addicts use the same but in the case of Siddique it would be premature to say either he injected this drug for suicide or any other purpose, a duty doctor told Dawn.

He said as this drug was easily available in sufficient quantity in the Mayo emergency, the technician injected a heavy dose of it which led to his on the spot death.

However, the police experts claimed apparently it seemed that the employee had committed suicide.
