TAXILA: A portion of Margalla Hills caved in during illegal quarrying, claiming life of a labourer and seriously injuring three others in Taxila police station area.

Rescue and hospital sources said that labourers were quarrying at stone crushing plant located near Ban Bhola area in Margalla hills when a portion of hill collapsed.

Besides shaull and a bulldozer came, four people were buried under the debris. Local rescuers retrieved body of a driver identified as Khizar, a resident of Sargodha.

They also pulled out three other workers in a critical condition. According to sources, the body of the labourer was dispatched to his native town without autopsy and the injured labourers were shifted to a private hospital.

When contacted, SHO Inspector Sohail Zaffar said that an inquiry regarding this incident is pending at the office of SP Potohar and police would register a case against stone crushing plant owner after recommendation from their seniors.
