MIRAMSHAH (North Waziristan), July 29: A suspected militant was killed and three others, including a foreigner, were arrested after security forces raided a house near a madressah here on Thursday night, sources said. The slain militant suspect has been identified as Abdul Latif, from Lakki Marwat. His body was handed over to his relatives.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release issued in Peshawar, troops busted a terrorist den functioning from a madressah. The leader of the gang, Amir Hamza, and his four accomplices had been arrested the previous day. Independent sources, however, disputed the official claim that a terrorist den was operating from the madressah.

According to the ISPR, security forces cordoned off a compound, including a madressah, on reports of presence of some foreign terrorists there. Warnings were given to people in the compound to surrender, but they refused to lay down arms and instead opened fire. Elders of the area and the political administration were also involved in efforts to persuade the miscreants to surrender.
