ABBOTTABAD, July 29: Wohaib Club breezed into the final of National Youth Championship soccer, defeating Islamabad 2-0 on penalty shoot out at Frontier Force Regimental Centre ground on Friday.

The match could have ended in scheduled time but Wohaib’s winger Waqas Pervaiz missed the golden chance when his drive in the first half from penalty spot was saved by Islamabad goalkeeper Sajjad. Both sides failed to break the deadlock in the stipulated time and even in 15 minutes extra time.

Wohaib finally won converting two penalty kicks while Islamabad failed to score. Ghulam Mohiuddin and Mohammad Zahid sent the ball off target while skipper Kamran Khan and Shoaib Waqas saw their penalty kicks being saved by Wohaib goalkeeper Bilal Rafiq. Islamabad keeper Sajjad saved a penalty kick by Mohammad Ali but was helpless against Zeeshan and Nabeel Haider.—APP
