LAKKI MARWAT: The police on Monday added 7-ATA to the FIR registered in Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station of Naurang town against the accused for kidnapping a four-year-old boy from Gandi Khankhel locality and later killing him.

Awais had been abducted a month ago and his mutilated body was recovered from fields near the village on Sunday, triggering protests.

The protesters had demanded incorporation of 7-ATA in the FIR and suspension of DSP Naurang circle Shafiq Khattak and SHO of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station, Zaheer Khan.

A police official confirmed that after inclusion of relevant ATA section in the FIR the case had been referred to Counter-Terrorism Department, Bannu, for further investigation. He said that Lakki DPO Qasim Ali Khan had taken serious notice of the brutal murder of boy and directed to bring perpetrators of the inhuman incident to justice.

The official also confirmed that Bannu region RPO Abdullah Khan had asked Naurang circle DSP Shafiq Khattak and SHO Zaheer Khan to report to the Bannu police lines for failing to trace the abductors and ensuring safe recovery of Awais.

“DSP Shafiq Khan later received fresh instructions from the provincial police chief to report to the central police office in Peshawar,” the official said, adding SHO Dadiwala police station had been appointed as new station house officer of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station.

MAN BOOKED FOR KILLING WIFE: Police on Monday booked a man for killing his wife in Tajazai village.

Police said that on Aug 6, Sher Bahadar had reported suicide of his wife over a domestic dispute. They said the complainant had said that her wife had shot and killed herself with a repeater gun in her house after arguing with a female neighbour.

The police said after registration of case, experts began investigation and concluded that the woman had been murdered by her husband.

“The investigation report was sent to the police authorities who issued orders for registration of FIR against the victim’s husband,” they maintained.
