KARACHI, July 29: The Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazlur Rehman, directed the KWSB to adopt an effective strategy to ensure supply of clean drinking water to the people of Karachi and the interior of Sindh.

Presiding over a high-level meeting, the chief secretary told the local government department that the supply of clean drinking water to the people was the responsibility of the concerned departments.

On the occasion, a water filtration company gave a presentation on water filtration and purification.

It was decided that the water board MD would hold talks with the company for supply of adequate quantity of filtered water and submit a report through the departments of planning and development and the local government within 15 days.

The meeting examined the selection of a site for making the water filtration and purification system effective through hydrant and where required quantity of water may also be available underground and where required installations could also be set up.

The meeting was informed that the water supply scheme for Thar would be operational by August.—APP
