KARACHI, July 28: Pakistan’s leading amateur Tariq Mehmood claimed the individual title and South Africans the team trophy in CISM World Military golf championship which concluded at Karachi Golf Club on Thursday. Tariq produced a fine final round of par 72 to finish on the top with an aggregate of 220 in the pack 38 golfers.

Jensen from Canada secured runner-up spot with score of 228, having played a final round seven-over 79 while another local player Ansar Mahmood came from behind to grab third spot with score of 232- posting 77 in third round in 54-hole contest. South African six Loubser, Bruyns, Collins, Theron and du Bruyn captured the team title with an aggregate total 935. Host Pakistan and Canada tied with score of 938.

But Canadian having Jensen, Lafoce, Norris, Cameron, Lowdon and Stuckless snatched runners-up spot on the basis of three-best scores on the final day. In the senior’s category South African Loubser emerged winner with score of 225. Stuckless of Canada was second 234 and Theron also from South Africa was third at 235.

In the women’s individual competition, Dunbar of Canada secured first position with score of 265 followed by Dermann-Macisaac from Canada at 278. The prize giving ceremony will be held on Friday.—Agencies
