MIRPURKHAS, Jan 14: A PPP leader, Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur, has said continuous detention of former senator Asif Ali Zardari and release of several PML leaders have proved that double standards were being followed by the government.

He said that Asif Zardari had been exonerated of all charges and granted bail by courts in several references and cases yet he had been implicated in other cases framed overnight, says a press release, issued here on Monday.

The PPP leader claimed that huge amount had been spent to implicate party chairperson Benazir Bhutto, Asif Zardari and other party leaders but no concrete evidence had come forth.

He said Zardari had braved country’s worst victimization of the last two decades at the hands of two regimes.

He said that keeping the former senator in prison for five consecutive years could hardly match any national interest being propagated by the government.
