Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement President Shah Faesal on Tuesday termed the situation in Kashmir as one of “unprecedented horror” following New Delhi's scrapping of Article 370 that gave special status to the occupied region.

“Unprecedented horror in Kashmir,” Faesal, a former Indian Administrative Service officer, tweeted.

“Everyone is heartbroken. A sense of defeat written on every face. Fall. From citizens to subjects. History has taken a catastrophic turn for all of us. People are numb. A people whose land, identity, history, was stolen, in broad daylight.”

Faesal's comments come following New Delhi's shock move to scrap its Kashmir's special status.

At least six people were reported injured in protests that erupted in the wake of the revocation of the occupied region's special status.

Kashmir has been virtually cut off from the rest of the world after Indian authorities took down phone and internet services ahead of Monday's announcement by Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist government. Public gatherings and rallies have also been banned.
