Accused in fake accounts case granted Rs20m plea bargain

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Friday approved a plea bargain between an accused in the fake bank accounts case and the anti-graft watchdog.
Accountability judge excluded the name of Harish Ji from the list of the accused.
The National Accountability Bureau informed the accountability court that NAB chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal had accepted the application filed by Mr Harish in which he had consented to pay Rs20.03 million under the plea bargain.
The court inquired from the accused whether he is making the payment of his own free will. The accused replied in the affirmative.
“Do you know you cannot contest elections for 10 years [if you enter the bargain]?” asked the judge.
“I am not planning to contest the elections,” Mr Harish replied.
Subsequently, the court approved the application filed by NAB seeking deletion of Mr Harish’s name from the list of the accused persons.
NAB has claimed that M/s Harish and Company was awarded a contract for water supply from the Sindh Special Initiative Department but it failed to complete the project, and the funds were used to meet the expenses of Naudero House.

Wish he invested the money correctly so as to save a fortune for himself and his family after making payments for the plea bargained amount and the amount to get the approval for the process to be accepted by the authorities concerned.

you cannot contest elections...wow what a big slap..as if he was a politician . thats a travesty ..no punishment for the crime ,,the plea bargain should not allow the criminal go free. it should be used just reduce the punishment . In us if a criminal confesses to crime and save the govt time then he is offered less punishment but a free chit

What is plea bargain but an institutionalized bribe to evade punishment? It goes against all principles if justice. And worse, it is exclusively for the rich. What is the deterrent if the worse that can happen is that you have to return a part of what you stole?

Not a bad deal for him. He usurped billions, and now pays only 20 millions. With current inflation, it is just peanuts. This plea bargain is a joke. It would be acceptable if the entire looted money plus the inflation, plus the interest and penalty is entered into the bargain. As well the convict should be disqualified to contest elections or hold a high ranking government job for life.

Plea bargain is a kind of concession term and to side with the corrupt. There must be some sort of other punishment too like two ,three years in jail depending upon the nature of the corruption.Or there must be a calculation/s with regard to the corruption amount and the current value of money which must be paid back with the fine amount and jail too. Then possibly, anyone would think twice before doing corruption and then taking advantage of PLEA Bargain. WoW, what facilities they have but look at the common people who pay taxes but suffer a lot during rains.

He didn't do corruption for billions. He was Zardari's frontman who got a Sindh Government water supply contract for Rs. 20 million and instead of doing the project he sent all the money to Zardari's man at Naudero House who was using a fake account from the fake accounts case. Money was spent on Zardari's house in Naudero.
