NAUSHARO FEROZE: Police on Wednesday booked Dr Abdul Hameed Ansari, coordinator of the National Health Programme and husband of MPA Shahnaz Ansari, his son and relatives for attacking focal person of the district health officer (DHO) and ransacking his office.

According to sources, a clash took place between two groups of health department officials in which members of the two groups attacked each other.

The clash started when the coordinator Mr Ansari reached the DHO office where a training programme on nutrition was in progress.

He asked focal person of DHO office Dr Abdul Sattar Bilal as to why the training was conducted without his permission. This led to exchange of hot words and a clash in which members of two groups beat and tore clothes of each other.

MPA Shahnaz Ansari reached the local press club where she levelled allegations against Dr Bilal.

She alleged that when her husband questioned Dr Bilal, he along with others attacked her husband and son. She said the ransacking of office was a “drama” later done by Dr Abdul Sattar Bilal and his group.

DHO Dr Mazhar Kalhoro told reporters that Dr Ansari had attacked his office and done injustice with the staff. He supported Dr Bilal and said that the training programme was being conducted with his approval.
